SLU鈥檚 Annual Lavender Graduation Set for May 15

The Cross-Cultural Center for Global Citizenship in the Division of Diversity and Innovative Community Engagement is partnering with SLU鈥檚 Rainbow Alliance to host this year鈥檚 Lavender Graduation.

Now in its third year, the event begins at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, in the Center for Global Citizenship. Lavender Graduation is open to all graduating students who identify as LGBTQ+ and their allies.

鈥淐elebrating the intersectionality of our students鈥 identities is core to creating a space of belonging and is inclusive of some of the most important work that we do,鈥 said Rochelle Smith, SLU鈥檚 vice president for diversity and innovative community engagement. 鈥淲e look forward to celebrating the academic and leadership achievements of our queer student community.鈥

Richard Marks, Ed.D., director of the Cross Cultural Center for Global Citizenship, added that Lavender Graduation offers students a time to reflect on the unique experiences and challenges they鈥檝e faced and to revel in the support and love that surrounds them at SLU.

鈥淭his event is all about celebrating the incredible accomplishments and contributions of LGBTQ+ students in a warm and inclusive space for our community to unite,鈥 Marks said. 鈥淚t's not just a celebration of diversity and resilience; it's a powerful testament to the success and pride of our community.鈥

To attend this year鈥檚 Lavender Graduation, complete to register for the event. The deadline to register is 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 8.
