Student Research in Action
Transformative medical education starts by offering opportunities that promote discovery. This year, the school made significant progress in research 鈥� by initiating a new pipeline program, expanding existing summer fellowships, and opening doors for more student research opportunities across campus.
Adriana Monta帽o, Ph.D., vice dean for research and professor of pediatrics, and biochemistry and molecular biology, explained that SLU endeavors to provide students, faculty and staff with the necessary resources to thrive in their research.
鈥淲e make sure to provide opportunities for our students to engage in cutting-edge research,鈥� Monta帽o said. 鈥淭hey are able to develop new research skills, be a part of scientific discoveries, exchange ideas, build their network, and feel represented within our greater SLU community.鈥�
Through SLU School of Medicine summer programs, high school, undergraduate and graduate students learn alongside skilled faculty mentors and gain invaluable experience in research. Students begin early to make discoveries that push the boundaries of scientific knowledge.
